Kemijärvi is easy to get to; by train, plane, bus or car. There is also good internal transport and a wide range of services!

From Kemijärvi train station you can continue your journey by bus directly to Suomu and all the way to Kuusamo. The bus leaves the railway station at 9.15 and arrives in Suomu at 9.55. The train returns to the evening train, leaving Suomu at 18.05 and arriving at the station at 18.45. The train runs back and forth every day. See the detailed timetable on the Matkahuolto website. The bus is operated by the Ruka taxi service.
You can apply for a VR journey directly to Pyhä, Suomu, Kuusamo and Salla, where you can see the connecting buses that fit the train timetable and buy your train and bus tickets at the same time.
by car train to your destination
Shorten your journey and travel by car and train. You’ll arrive at Kemijärvi feeling rested and relaxed as your car travels in its own carriage. A car train runs to Kemijärvi three times a week. The car train departs from Helsinki on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Back to Helsinki, the car train leaves on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
