Suomutunturi

Suomu is a legendary fjord in the Kemijärvi region, in the Arctic Circle, with an excellent slope profile and a 409-metre summit. The history of the mountain resort dates back to the 1960s, when the first lift and café were opened on Suomu. Today, the area is home to Hotel Suomutunturi, which runs the ski resort. The distance from Kemijärvi to Suomu is about 45 km. A bus service runs once a day between Kemijärvi railway station and Suomu. Pyhätunturi

Pyhä-Luosto National Park and Pyhätunturi Ski Resort are located in the municipalities of Pelkosenniemi and Kemijärvi, in the middle of the E4 and E5 roads, which ensures good accessibility for those travelling by car or public transport. Air and train connections, together with daily bus services from Rovaniemi and Kemijärvi, provide an easy way to the fells.

Salla

Salla is located in the wilderness of Eastern Lapland, far enough away from everything, but with good transport connections. The distance from Kemijärvi to Salla is 65km. The eastern border separates Salla from Russia and the northern polar circle crosses the southern part of the municipality. Bus connections connect Salla to Kuusamo and Rovaniemi airports, and Kemijärvi railway station.

The Sallatunturi ski resort offers a wide range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts in addition to skiing.
